MARCHING FORWARD AND MOVING UPWARD

There are few things that inspire as much as a heart-warming story of rising above the odds and overcoming challenges. Such is the story of Harvester Primary School, situated in Westridge, Mitchells Plain.

This area is renowned for its socio-economic challenges as well as the scourge of substance and drug abuse. A reality the members of the Mitchells Plain community face on a daily basis, leaving the children as the most vulnerable in its wake.

Harvester Primary, in line with their motto “Excelsior – steadily higher”, started a Marching and Drilling Team that has developed into one of the best both Provincially and Nationally.

The team achieved top honours in 2017 walking away with 1st Prize in March Past, Drum Major, Exhibition March and overall points. This year they are heading to Nationals again and requested the help of the public to assist the team.

Tatum Block, in Accounts at Club Travel, shared this story with the Club Cares Committee. To support their fundraising efforts, Club Cares donated a Nutribullet Combo to the value of R3 000 and 2 luxury hampers valued at R300 each to be raffled as a way for the school to generate the much-needed funds.
