At Club Travel we pride ourselves on being a company that cares about our people, our customers, our communities and our country. When we recognise a cause that speaks to the core values entrenched in our company DNA, it motivates us to show our heart and give support. Having worked with ‘Shop for a Stranger’ in the past, we did not hesitate to, once again, assist Marisa and her team of volunteers on a recent delivery to the impoverished Grabouw community they take care of.
Alongside community matriarch, Auntie Poppy, Marisa, Kim and Carol from ‘Shop for a Stranger’ fund a local soup kitchen – ensuring that little tummies receive a warm meal at least once a week.
Auntie Poppy, a ‘mother to all’ also assists the children of the community with ad-hoc projects like Matric Farewell outfits and school shoes, from time to time.
This year Club Cares was able to supply each child who visits the soup kitchen with a brand new pair of school shoes and a pair of school socks – 50 pairs in total. We also sponsored ‘Shop for a Stranger’ with a R2 500 shopping voucher (for use in purchasing much-needed groceries).
Though Marisa and her team may say that the initiative is a small one, we all know that lives are changed one person at a time. In this instance, a community is impacted, one child at a time.
We salute these angels for the sterling work they are doing in the Grabouw community.
