Club Travel Corporate, a division of the Thebe Tourism Group and Travelstart Group company, is delighted to announce the appointment of Kananelo Makhetha and Nazeema Beilings as company directors.

Brett Hendricks, General Manager of Thebe Tourism Group said, “Bringing Kananelo and Nazeema onto the board is testament to the value they have brought to the business since joining it.  Their strengths, skill set and strong values will contribute to the growth and success of the business going forward and I look forward to being a part of this journey with them.”

Kananelo has successfully lead Club Travel Corporate as CEO since March 2019 and has more than twenty years of executive management experience in travel and tourism and has overseen the leadership and management of operations at companies such as Travelex Africa (2014-2019) and BCDTravel (1996 – 2014).  In the private sector, Kananelo was a member of the South African government’s ministerial task group for tourism sector transformation (2002), a past president of ASATA (1998 – 2001), and a past board member of South African Tourism.

Nazeema joined Club Travel Corporate in October 2019 and, with in excess of 18 years management experience, has been an integral part of the company’s executive committee in leading acquired travel technology company – Travellinck (Pty) Ltd.  Most recently Nazeema’s experience includes Head of Projects, Implementations and Online Support Teams at Tourvest Travel Services (2016 – 2019) and BCDTravel (2014 – 2016).

Gary Mulder, Club Travel CEO, said, “Kananelo and Nazeema have been with us for 15 and 10 months respectively and in that time have shown that they have what it takes to direct our corporate business to the levels that shareholders would expect.  Their nature, knowledge and proactive attitudes have commanded respect across the group and their appointment to the board is well deserved.  I certainly am excited for the journey ahead with them at the helm.”

As a member of the Board of Directors, Kananelo’s new position will involve additional fiducial responsibility and he is humbled by the trust instilled in him by shareholders and accepts his nomination with humility.  “Club Travel has a unique company culture and set of values.  We have won new business on the back of it and I will continue to uphold it and promote it amongst the team,” said Kananelo Makhetha.  He also added, “The biggest challenge is to lead the company into growth and profitability speedily when travel resumes and to ensure adequate returns for all stakeholders.  Business recovery is our goal.  We are working on automating our processes and re-purposing our client offerings by leveraging on the Travelstart relationship to enable us to grow the business significantly within the shortest possible time on the base of exemplary customer service, product offering and an enabled staff.”

Nazeema sees her new role continuously evolving to ensure client expectations are met and is honoured that shareholders and colleagues have entrusted her with this.  “My main initiator will be to strengthen our technology, analyse gaps and find solutions.  Covid-19 has heightened our customers’ need for cost-saving initiatives and with new technology and the invaluable strength of humanity when it comes to our team, we are on a rapid path to meeting these goals”.  Nazeema also explained the importance of being known as a brand which delivers seamless, effective, efficient and reliable technology and added, “Our focus is on improving our operations through the use of robotics, simplified processes and increased service delivery”.

Kananelo and Nazeema will mostly be based at Club Travel Corporate’s Rosebank, Johannesburg office once Covid-19 restrictions allow.
